From the south-east to Etna and the west of Sicily: selected wineries and exclusive recipes
More and more Sicilian wines are being recognised and awarded worldwide and are no longer a niche product. There are several wine regions in Sicily, but with our proposal we invite you to visit three of them in particular: the south-east, the Etna and the west with its own facets. In each of these regions, we have selected some wineries that open their doors to the public in search of wine and culinary emotions, of the most authentic and ancient flavours of this land.
TOUR PLAN
Arrival in Catania
Arrival at Catania airport. City tour. Transfer to the slopes of Mount Etna. Dinner and overnight stay in a farmhouse (2 nights).
Mount Etna
Ascent of the northern slope up to 1800 metres above sea level, from where it is possible to go up to 2900 metres by off-road vehicle. In the afternoon, visit of Castiglione di Sicilia and a winery in the Alcantara Valley for a tasting of Etna red wine. Last stop at the Alcantara gorges, return to the farmhouse, dinner and overnight stay.
Syracuse
Departure for Syracuse. Visit of the archaeological zone and the old town on the island of Ortigia. Light lunch in a wine cellar in Syracuse to taste the Moscato di Siracusa among other wines. Continue to Modica. Visit of the town, which is famous for its chocolate. Overnight stay in a “diffused” hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Ragusa
Visit of Ragusa and the Donnafugata Castle. Continue to Agrigento, visiting a winery en route to discover the delights of Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Agrigento.
Agrigento and Mussomeli
Visit of the Temples’s Valley. Continue to Palermo. Visit of the famous Mussomeli Castle. Dinner and accompanying wine tasting (Nero d’Avola, Petit Verdot, and Viognier) and overnight stay (2 nights) at a winery near Palermo.
Palermo
Visit of Palermo and Monreale. Dinner and overnight stay at a winery.
Erice and Marsala
Excursion to Erice. Continue to Marsala, along the Salt Road. Visit of a winery for a tasting of Marsala liqueur wine in all its forms. Return to the winery, dinner, and overnight stay.
Departure
Transfer to Palermo Airport and departure.
