TOUR
Classic Sardinia
Nature, Landscapes, and History
For some, the island, so close to Italy yet so far away, which we call Sardinia, called Ichnussa by ancient Greeks because of its foot-like shape, was the mythical Atlantis of Plato’s tale, and that therefore never disappeared. This ancient atmosphere is still palpable and is reflected in the globalized present. We invite you to experience it on a tour and discover the fantastic diversity of nature, landscapes, history, cultures, and architecture that this island offers.
TOUR PLAN
Arrival in Olbia
Arrive at the airport in Olbia. Your guide will take you to discover one of the island’s most famous corners: the Costa Smeralda, with its pink granite cliffs. Continue to Orosei and overnight (2 nights).
The Supramonte
Visit of Orosei and Oliena. In Orgosolo, the town of the murales, an ancient center in the Supramonte, we will have lunch with the shepherds, accompanied by the singing of the “tenores”. By off-road vehicle, we will explore the wild landscapes of the “Sardinian Dolomites.”
Cagliari
On the way to Cagliari, we will visit the “sacred spring” from the Nuragic period in Paulilatino. Upon arrival in the capital, we will visit the historic center and the archaeological museum. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Cagliari (2 nights).
The Phoenicians of Sardinia
Excursion to Sant’Antioco Along the way, we visit the remains of the ancient Phoenician and Roman seaside town of Nora. Sant’Antioco is also a Phoenician settlement, where Chiara Vigo continues a very old family tradition of producing sea silk on a non-profit basis. Chiara is one of the few people in the world still capable of spinning this silk: meeting her is a unique and profound experience.
Tharros and Bosa
We head north. A visit of Tharros is more of a relaxing stroll along a narrow peninsula between the sea and the Gulf of Oristano. Next comes Bosa, the romantic town on the Temo River. Finally, we reach Alghero, where we spend the night (3 nights).
Alghero
Today we visit Alghero, the “Little Barcelona” of Sardinia, with its characteristic historic center. At a winery, we will taste the island’s most important wines: Cannonau and Vermentino. In the afternoon, a walk to Capo Caccia is the natural conclusion to a relaxing day.
Valley of the Nuraghi
The day is dedicated to exploring the so-called Nuragic Valley: 30 of these mysterious buildings are spread over a small area, along with Romanesque churches and early Christian necropolises. A lunch in a typical trattoria is the best way to remember a special day for years to come.
Departure
Today, the circle closes. Transfer to Olbia Airport. However, if time allows, we’ll first visit the island’s most famous Romanesque building: the Church of the Holy Trinity in Saccargia. Goodbye, Sardinia!
